Have you ever looked at a skincare label and wondered what any of it really means?
These words sound reassuring, but they don't always tell the whole story. Ingredient lists can be confusing, packaging claims can be difficult to check, and marketing often makes products sound simpler than they are.
That's why I created Pore Scale.
Beauty Meets the Environment
I'm an environmental engineer and an esthetics student. My environmental engineering background taught me to look beyond a label and consider the larger system behind a product. I care about what skincare products do for our skin — but I also wonder what happens before and after we use them.
Where do the ingredients come from? What happens to the packaging? Which claims actually have evidence behind them?
Pore Scale brings skincare claims, ingredient information, and environmental questions together in one place.
Making Information Easier to Understand
My goal isn't to tell you what to buy or to criticize brands. I want to help you ask better questions and make choices you actually understand.
I publish in English and Spanish because useful information should be accessible to more people.
How AI Helps Me Build
I started Pore Scale in June 2026 without a background in code. I use AI tools to help me organize research, explore ideas, and build features — but I verify information against original sources, test the site, and decide what is ready to publish. This is still just the beginning, and I'd love for you to be part of it — one honest post at a time.
AI helps me build. It doesn't replace my judgment.
What I'm Building Next
Pore Scale began as an educational blog. Now the Claim Decoder is live and available in beta.
The Claim Decoder is designed to let you scan or type in a skincare claim and an ingredient list, then understand:
- What the visible label may support
- Where more evidence is needed
- What ingredients alone can't prove
- Which questions are worth asking before trusting a claim
It won't force every claim into "true" or "false." Sometimes the most honest answer is: "There isn't enough information to verify this."
My Goal
I want Pore Scale to help you feel less overwhelmed and more confident when reading a skincare label.
Because better skincare choices begin with better understanding.
